Guidance Counsellor, TDSB
Zenobia Omarali has been an educator with TDSB for over twenty-five years and has held leadership roles in Guidance, Computer Science and Business. As a leader, teacher and guidance counsellor, she believes that student engagement and experiential learning is the key to student success. Zenobia has a strong background in STEM and holds bachelor’s degrees in Education, Computer Science and Business and a master’s degree in System Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo. She was honoured with the Outstanding Business Educator Award by the Ontario Business Educators’ Association and Outstanding Women Educator Award by Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation. Zenobia is an active member of the Association of Career Educators, whose mission is to support and promote a successful life and career education.
Zenobia will give a brief introduction of the Ontario public school system and the range of special programs offered at the Toronto District School Board. Programs that will be discussed include Gifted, TOPS (Talented Offering in Physical Science), STEM+ (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), IB (International Baccalaureate), AP (Advance Placement), SHSM (Specialist High Skills Major) and Dual Credit opportunities. The benefits of experiential learning and interdisciplinary courses will also be a focus.
