Dr. Latifa Yeung

MD, MSc FRCPC, Pediatric Gastroenterologist

Dr. Latifa Yeung (MD, MSc FRCPC, Pediatric Gastroenterologist) was born in Hong Kong and came to Canada as an infant. She grew up in Scarborough and completed high school in Pickering. As a teenager she volunteered at Centenary Hospital. After high school, she moved out to study at the University of Toronto. She completed her Pediatrics, Pediatric Gastroenterology, and Clinical Epidemiology training in Toronto. She is an Assistant Professor with the University of Toronto Department of Paediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition. She enjoys a fulfilling practice as a Pediatric Gastroenterologist at the Scarborough Health Network’s Centenary Hospital.

Dr. Yeung will talk about the path to becoming a physician. She will review what medical schools are looking for in the next generation of doctors and how long training takes. Although there are many different types of doctors, she will describe her typical work day. She will discuss some pros and cons of pursuing medicine as a career. For those who are interested, she will finish by sharing some tips for possible next steps and look forward to entertaining all your questions.
